Employment Benefits
In addition to our continuous learning approach, our benefit programs extend far beyond the traditional paid time off. Typical benefits include: health insurance; dental insurance; vision insurance; life and disability insurance; and 401(k) matching contributions. We boast a fitness facility, wellness program, onsite Toastmasters organization, and numerous professional and personal development course offerings. We also consider the lifestyle, beauty, and educational opportunities of Ithaca one of our greatest employee benefits. Additionally employees are offered discounts throughout the Central New York region for dental, vision, health clubs, restaurants, theaters, and dry-cleaning services. And we continue to offer our employees flexible work schedules.Throughout the year, employees enjoy company-sponsored social and volunteer opportunities such as holiday parties, a winter festival, Taste of the Nation, summer theater, chocolate festival, several employee sponsored walks, employee-sponsored technical industry lunch hour briefings, and community blood drives. Each month the company celebrates our employees' birthdays and anniversaries, introduces new employees to the CBORD team, and recognizes our employees' customer service achievements.
All in all, CBORD is a great place to work: technically, professionally, and personally!

CBORD reserves the right to designate
and observe certain days each year as holidays. Staff members employed outside the United States
may be entitled to different holidays.
Sick Leave
Sick Days are considered a benefit like "health insurance," to be used for an event that is
medically necessary. Sick time is defined as a day on which you are ill, a day you are in a major
accident off the job, or a day on which an immediate family member is ill.
Personal Days
Under CBORD's personal leave policy, regular full-time staff members may use up to three (3) days of their accrued sick leave each year as personal leave.
Insurance and Other Programs
Health Insurance
All regular full-time staff members are eligible
to join CBORD's Group Health Insurance Plan, which is currently provided by
Aetna. Plan benefits generally include hospitalization, outpatient services, medical/surgical,
prescription drugs, and major medical benefits. CBORD contributes a percentage of the participant's
premium; participants pay for the health insurance through installments deducted from their
paycheck on a pre-tax basis.
Dental Insurance
All full-time staff members are eligible to enroll in
the optional dental insurance program. Premiums for your dental insurance coverage will be deducted each pay period through payroll.
Wellness Program
Although the Wellness Program contracted through
Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca is not a formal health insurance program, it does offer preventative
health measures to staff members. Staff members who have been employed full-time at CBORD for at
least six (6) months, regardless of whether they are covered by CBORD's health insurance program,
are eligible to participate in the Wellness Program.
Onsite Fitness Facility
Club CBORD is CBORD’s way of giving employees an opportunity to stay in good physical condition,
while socializing with their fellow workers.
Vision Coverage
All regular full-time staff members are eligible to elect vision coverage for themselves and their family. The program allows for a fixed schedule of payment for basic vision care services. Covered benefits include eye examinations, frames, lenses, and contacts.
Disability Coverage
CBORD offers both a short-term and long-term optional disability program that provides benefits in conjunction with your state disability program, if applicable. All full-time staff members are eligible to participate.
Life Insurance
All full-time staff members are eligible to enroll
in the optional life insurance program. You may cover yourself, your spouse, domestic partners, and dependent
children. Premiums for your life insurance coverage will be deducted each pay period through payroll.
401(k) Savings Plan
All staff members at least 21 years of age are eligible to participate in CBORD's Retirement Savings and Investment Plan after they complete one full year of employment with CBORD in which they have contributed 1,000 hours of service. CBORD currently provides a 2% base compensation contribution to all eligible staff members regardless of whether they contribute to the plan. In addition, CBORD provides a matching contribution of $.50 for each dollar you contribute up to the first 4% of your base compensation you contribute. These contributions are generally free from federal and state income taxes until withdrawn, subject to Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) requirements.
Other Programs
Toastmasters International
Toastmasters International is the leading
movement devoted to making effective oral communication a worldwide reality. It helps men and
women throughout the world improve their communication and leadership skills. CBORD hosts its own
chapter of Toastmasters. All employees are eligible and encouraged to join. CBORD pays all
membership dues.
Flexible Spending Program
It is a comprehensive program that allows employees to set aside a portion of their income pre-tax to pay for certain expenses not covered by their benefits plan (ex. employees portion of group insurance plans, child care, eldercare, unreimburseable medical, dental, and vision expenses, and certain over-the-counter medicine as determined by the IRS).
