Ithaca, New York—Employees of the CBORD Group, Inc. of Ithaca, NY have raised $22,072 for the relief of those affected by Hurricane Katrina, with all proceeds being donated to the American Red Cross.
All money raised has been a result of employee contributions. Tim Tighe, CBORD’s President and CEO, spearheaded the company’s efforts by setting an initial goal of $5,000 in employee contributions. One week after that goal was set, it had been surpassed more than four times. The company also agreed to match a substantial portion of employee contributions.
CBORD has had both customers and employees affected by Katrina. The company has been helping in many ways, including paying for emergency phone lines for a shelter set up by one of its customers. Employees have also volunteered their own time to collect money and supplies for the victims.
"Our employees have truly shown their colors over the past few weeks," says Tighe. "We are fortunate to have such a caring group of people working here, who realize how lucky we are to be in a position to give under these terrifying circumstances."
